In Hawaiian “wai” means fresh water and “puna” means stream. Fresh water has always played an important role in Hawaiian culture. From ancient beginnings, Hawaiians understood the significance fresh water played in sustaining life, and always sought the conservation and equal sharing of this precious resource. 
Separate from the main house our converted barn room,  Punawai Hale sits right on the edge of our pond. With its own private sun room, you will have an intimate view of all the life in and around  the pond which is the epicenter of life here at the ranch.  You will have a front row seat of the koi fish swirling around in the water, the muscovy ducks wandering around the grassy edges and the chickens relaxing under the cool shade of the Hapu’u ferns. You may even get a visit from our goat Lucy at your front door!

 Named for the Lehua flowers that bloom on the Ohia trees the Lehua Ranch Retreat is a separate bungalow from the main house.


The private and spacious Lehua Ranch Retreat provides a perfect option for a romantic couple, families with children or friends traveling together that need a little extra space. In the main studio a handcrafted King bed with cozy linens and a heated mattress pad provides the perfect place to get a good night’s sleep before the next day’s adventures. The sitting area has two comfy futons that are perfect for listening to the rain patter on the roof, reading a book or enjoying time with family and friends. The futons fold into full beds if additional sleeping space is needed. A private en-suite bath with a walk in tile shower provides the same luxurious amenities you would find in a resort hotel but at half the cost. Additional Room amenities also include a small fridge, coffee maker, microwave, counter top oven, wet bar and bistro table for four.  A separate area with a queen size bed provides even more flexibility for this bungalow retreat.

Let the glamping begin! This all-weather 16ft diameter bell tent is nestled in the grazing pasture of Volcano Acres Ranch Bed & Breakfast.


Our off-grid glamping site is in the back 3 acres where our goats and donkey spend their days grazing away. Guests can explore the property, which is home to goats, sheep, a donkey, cats, dogs, chickens, and ducks. This unique experience allows you to camp in the Hawaiian rainforest without worrying about having to bring your traditional camping gear. The glamping experience includes:

  • Propane stove
  • Wood burning stove
  • Hot water (propane heated)
  • A nearly off-the-grid experience (no electricity)

The Lehua Ranch Retreat

Rates: $250 to $300 per night for studio suite which includes 1 King bed (double occupancy) / $250-$275 per night for two bedroom bungalow (double occupancy)  Additional people are charged at the rate of $30, per person, per night, up to 6 maximum. Minimum 2 nights stay.

Cleaning Surcharge of $45 applies to all one night stays    

 The Ohia Ranch Retreat is a private, large master suite that encompasses the entire lower level floor of the main house. 


This elegant room boasts 180 degree views of the native rainforest and the property’s Emerald Pond. Get a peaceful night’s rest in our handcrafted King bed with refined bedding and heated mattress pad for those cool Volcano nights.  A sitting area next to the cast iron stove is perfect for sipping a glass of your favorite libation while watching the rain.  The private lanai lets you sit outside and watch the animals roam or gaze at the stars. For a thoroughly romantic and relaxing evening, the en-suite bath has an open slate walk in shower and separate Jacuzzi style tub. Try a candlelit herbal aroma therapy bath while listening to soft music. Emerge from your bath and wrap yourself in the warmth of heated towels. Room amenities also include a small fridge, coffee maker, microwave, toaster oven, wet bar and bistro table.

Rates: $200-$260 per night (double occupancy)
Minimum 2 night stay.  2 Guests maximum. 

Rates: $250-$300 per night (double occupancy)
